GOLAGHAT: World Social Work Day was celebrated at Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya today.
The Department of Social Work organized a two-day programme to commemorate World Social Work Day 2025, aligning with this year’s theme: ‘Strengthening Intergenerational Solidarity for Enduring Wellbeing.’
On the first day, the event featured four distinguished resource persons from diverse fields namely Bokul Gogoi renowned as ‘The Tree Man of Assam’ for his environmental contributions , Father (Dr) A Amaladoss, Principal of Don Bosco College, Golaghat, Shantanu Sen, Independent filmmaker, Anubroto Sarmah, young entrepreneur, who were felicitated .
The session was graced by Vice-Chancellor Professor G Singaiah, Registrar Dr Uday Kr Khanikar, Academic Registrar Dr Udayan Boruah and Dr Antora Borah, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology and the Programme Coordinator of the Department of Social Work, and the teaching faculty members of the Department of Social Work, Adhiti Sinha and Prastuti Das, who co-hosted the event. The students actively engaged in the discussions, making the session insightful and interactive.
On the second day, a cleanliness drive ‘Broom and Bloom’ was carried out. It featured a cleanliness drive organized by the Department of Social Work in collaboration with the Golaghat Municipality Board and the Social Development Forum at Magistrate Colony Golaghat. The initiative aimed to promote community responsibility and environmental sustainability, reinforcing the values of social work in action. Vice-Chairman Municipal Board Simanta Bora, Ward Commissioner Ajay Bharali, and Nazim Ahmed were present.
