NAGAON: The Assam Yoga Association, recognized by the Assam Olympic Association, celebrated its 37th foundation day with a daylong programme in memory of social worker Late Lalit Chandra Hazarika at the state yoga kendra, Nirvana, located at Nehru Yuva Kendra (Mera Yuva Bharat), Nagaon.
The celebration started with a flag hoisting ceremony, followed by a tree plantation programme led by Dr Krishna Kumar Bora, President of the Assam Yoga Association, and Manjula Laskar, Treasurer of the association.
The association paid tribute to its Late members, including its founding general secretary Phatik Chandra Sarma, social worker Lalit Chandra Hazarika, and other notable figures. The tribute ceremony was attended by prominent personalities, including Brajen Kakati, Vice-President of the Assam Yoga Association, Prabhat Chandra Bora, General Secretary, and Samir Hazarika, Joint Secretary of the association.
The highlight of the event was a yoga demonstration and interaction session, where the importance of yoga in contemporary times was discussed. The session was led by Prabhat Chandra Bora, General Secretary of the Assam Yoga Association, and attended by prominent yoga practitioners and officials.
During the celebration, medals sponsored in memory of Late Lalit Chandra Hazarika by his family members were presented to Uditarani Bora and Drishna JR Chandra, who recently won trophies in the 10th Asian Yoga Sports Championship in Singapore.
Other notable personalities, including Biju Saikia, Pranati Sarma, and Hareswar Bora, were also felicitated for their contributions to yoga and society.
The event concluded with a candle-lighting ceremony. It was organized in collaboration with Mera Yuva Bharat, Nagaon, and the District Yoga Association, a press note added.
