NAGAON: A unit of the Assam Yoga Science College, a leading institution for yoga sports education in the state, was inaugurated on Tuesday at Jamunamukh. The unit of the college was officially inaugurated by Prabhat Chandra Borah, Vice-President of the International Yoga Referee and All India Yoga Federation, through a candle lighting ceremony.
On this occasion, a function was also held at the Jamunamukh Sankardev Vidyaniketan premises, presided over by Dambaru Saikia, a noted social organizer and educationist. Yoga guru Prabhat Chandra Borah delivered a speech, highlighting the importance of yoga sports education in the current context.
The function was attended by Uma Charan Dey, a retired bank official, Tanaji Sen Gupta, a veteran yoga expert, national yoga referees Manasi Saikia, Daisy Ray Choudhury, and Lona Devi, Mukul Saikia, a retired teacher, former athlete, and artiste, Minati Devi Kakati, a poet, Titu Dutta, a kho-kho sports organizer, social workers Dharmendra Bora, Brajen Saikia, Deuti Bora, Montu Baruah, Nita Saikia Tamuli, Biju Dey, Bhagyashree Bora, and Pooja Bora, along with the faculty, students, and parents of Jamunamukh Sankardev Vidyaniketan.
Pranjit Bora, a national yoga referee and senior yoga athlete, and Pooja Bora will serve as trainers at this unit.
At the inauguration ceremony, emerging players Arpita Acharya and Pranshi Bora captivated the audience with their yoga sports performances. The local yoga enthusiasts have appreciated Pranjit Bora’s special efforts in establishing this unit of Assam Yoga Science College at Jamunamukh.
