ORANG: A wave of grief swept through Orang following the untimely demise of a 43-year-old entrepreneur Utpal Sharma, popularly known as Pol Sharma. A resident of No. 1 Saikia Chuburi, in Orang under Udalguri district, Sharma passed away at his residence at around 4:40 PM on August 7 after battling cancer.
Sharma, a well-known face in the local business community, was also serving as President of the Orang E-Rickshaw Association and an active member of Orang Zenith Club. Known for his ever-smiling and approachable nature, he leaves behind his wife, a 4-year-old son, his mother, younger brother, sister-in-law, and nephew.
As a mark of respect, the Orang Traders’ Association observed a closure of all business establishments from 5:00 am to 10:00 am on August 8. The Orang Journalists’ Association and the Orang Local Development Organization also joined in expressing their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
Community members, friends, and well-wishers recalled Sharma’s warmth, dedication, and active role in social activities. His passing cast a pall of sorrow over the entire Orang area. Divyajyoti Saikia, President of the Orang VCDC, described his death as an irreparable loss to the community.
