Assam: Young Girl Gang-Raped On Her Way To Bihu Function In Karbi Anglong

GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident in Assam's Karbi Anglong, a young girl was allegedly gang-raped while she was going to watch a Bihu function in her locality.

The incident took place on Monday 25 April in Englang village which is in the Bakaliaghat area of East Karbi Anglong district.

According to reports, the victim girl was on her way to watch a Bihu celebration in her locality on Monday during night hours. She was allegedly gang-raped on her way to the Bihu function.

Reportedly after a few hours, the villagers saw the girl lying naked on the roadside in Englang. The young girl was found in an unconscious state.

When the locals spotted the girl, she was immediately taken to a local hospital for medical attention. She was later admitted to ICU (Intensive Care Unit) as her condition was very serious.

Police officials reached the spot and started an inquiry after getting informed by the locals. Some of the enraged villagers demanded the arrest of the culprits as early as possible.

Meanwhile, police have been investigating the case thoroughly to find out the people involved in the gang rape of the young girl.

It may be mentioned that such crime against women has been rapidly increasing in the region and other parts of Assam since recent years.

Earlier 3 days ago, the Guwahati police detained 4 people involved in the gang rape of their lady colleague who filed an FIR after surviving the incident.

The survivor who is a resident of Assam's Karbi Anglong district said that she had joined her new office recently and on Wednesday last week 3 of her colleague approached her for lunch.

The accused persons took her to a rented apartment near the office and allegedly gang-raped the woman. She later went to the Hatigaon police station and filed a complaint based on which the trio was arrested.
