DIBRUGARH: A 24-year-old woman from Ledo identified as Baby Kumari Prasad has been reported to be missing after traveling to Dibrugarh University to collect her post-graduation results. Her family last heard from her at 3 p.m. on February 24, when she contacted them from Dibrugarh Banipur Station. But by 5:45 p.m., her phone had been turned off, and no one had heard from or seen her since then.
Following her disappearance, her family has filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Ledo Police Station, and an investigation into the case has been initiated. Locals in the region have voiced concerns that this incident might be connected to Assam's growing number of missing women cases.
The authorities are calling on residents to be on high alert and report any suspicious movements. The police have asked anyone with information on the whereabouts of Baby Kumari Prasad to contact the nearest police station or call 839999711 at once.
In another case, three young women from Bozarbasti, Ledo, Assam—Nandita Acharjyee, Pushpita Acharjyee, and Sanchita Dev—have disappeared after stepping out of their homes to have lunch, and an urgent police probe was initiated as their phones are not reachable. Meanwhile, five missing students from Dhemaji were found safe at Silchar Railway Station after planning a trip to Aizawl. Cachar SP Numol Mahatta confirmed the students were in good health and will be returned to Guwahati to reunite with their families.
