Guwahati: Nayan Nivir Baishya, a youth hailing from Mukalmua in Nalbari district of Assam, has landed in the proverbial soup after posting a host of obscene and objectionable posts against youth icon Zubeen Garg and his wife Garima.

A youth has been arrested by the police for allegedly threatening popular singer Zubeen Garg and his wife. As per reports, one Nayan Nivir Baishya of Nalbari's Mukalmua has recently posted a number of updates on Facebook threatening to kill the singer on September 2.

He also made objectionable and obscene comments against Garima Saikia Garg, the wife of Zubeen. The Mukalmua police have acted swiftly and arrested the youth for his 'objectionable' posts against the star.

Following this, a large number of Assamese Facebook users have vented anger against the popular singer after the state agriculture department engaged him as its brand ambassador.

However, Baishya, in another post, has claimed that his profile was 'hacked' by miscreants and that he had never spoken ill about the singing sensation. He further adds that all the BJP workers' accounts in his village have been hacked into.

Meanwhile, Assam BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass has claimed that popular singers Zubeen Garg and Bipin Chaudang, who once led the agitation against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act, are now more amenable to talks with the saffron party. Dass has also hinted that the singers would join the ruling BJP party ahead of the crucial polls in 2021.

Dass also said that actor Jatin Bora would also "speak his mind" soon". Bora is another popular figure from the state who discarded the orange robes in the midst of the agitation against the CAA.

Dass's claims have assumed significance as the state agriculture department has engaged Zubeen as its ambassador. Lots of people have been venting anger against the popular singer on social media platforms. However, some have stood beside the popular singer.
