Assam: Youth Found Dead in Caretaker's Quarters in Jonai; Electrocution Suspected

A 22-year-old youth was found dead in Jonai's water supply caretaker’s quarters. Electrocution is suspected, and the local police have initiated an investigation into the cause of death.

JONAI: A young man was found dead this morning at the caretaker’s quarters of a water supply project in the 2 No. Mahomora village of Jonai. The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Shyamol Doley, a relative of the caretaker of the water supply scheme (Jal Jeevan Mission) in the village. 

According to reports, the young man had spent the night sleeping on a bed in the caretaker’s quarters. However, when the village did not receive its water supply early in the morning, a local resident went to check the caretaker’s quarters. Upon arrival, they discovered the youth’s body in a lifeless state. 

The cause of death cannot be ascertained, but locals suspect that electrocution might have been the cause. However, it is not confirmed.

After being informed of the incident, Jonai police reached the spot and recovered the body. They have sent it for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities are still investigating the matter, looking at all possible outcomes, such as unintentional electrocution or other issues with the water supply system.

The public has been cautioned by authorities not to speculate about the shocking incident, even before an official investigation is carried out. Authorities have opened a comprehensive probe into the case and ordered a post-mortem to establish the cause of death. The facts will begin to unfold as the investigation continues.
