GUWAHATI: A youth went missing after jumping off a bridge at Sadiya in the Tinsukia region of Assam on Monday.

The teenager is said to have leaped into the River Brahmaputra from the Dr Bhupen Hazazrika setu (bridge) in Sadiya before going missing. According to sources, the teen's sandals were discovered on top of the bridge where he is claimed to have leaped off.

It has not yet been determined why he took this extraordinary action.

A State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) team was tasked with finding the missing adolescent in the meantime. The missing boy's identification has not yet been determined.

Assam and Arunachal Pradesh are connected by the Bhupen Hazarika Setu, sometimes referred to as the Dhola Sadiya Bridge, a beam bridge in India.

A young person recently jumped off the Kaliabhomora bridge in Tezpur, Assam.

Nihal Kakati, a resident of Narayanpur, was recognised as the young person. According to sources, he was crossing the bridge when he stopped to pray to the powerful Brahmaputra River. However, at around five o'clock in the evening, he suddenly jumped off the bridge without anyone noticing.

Another young man who was with Nihal at the time of the occurrence hurried to the local police station to report it.

The police arrived on the scene and notified the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to start a search and rescue operation after learning about the tragedy. They also found the deceased's phone, which they recovered.

A body of a youth was found lying on the flyover connecting Guwahati Club and B Barooah Road on last Thursday night. As per the reports, the body of the youth was found lying on the sidewalk of the flyover.

The identity of the youth has been established by the police to be Lutfur Rahman, a resident Goalpara who came to Guwahati just a few week ago. The Paltan Bazar police officials informed that the body was sent to GMCH for autopsy. The officials mentioned that the youth died to due to drug overdose.
