In this regard and make his appeal to reach the masses and to grab the attention of the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT), the youth named Rajon Das of Patharkandi has started a journey on foot.
He wants a chapter on the northeast, especially for the students of classes IX and X, in its textbooks.
Das, who is a student of NIT Silchar, started from Udaipur's Tripura Sundari Temple, popularly known as Matabari, on May 22. He reached Silchar on Saturday and headed towards Kamakhya in Guwahati.
As per reports, from there, he will head towards Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram, in the last leg of his journey.
''I walk for nearly 12-13 hours every day and hope to complete my journey in the next two-and-a-half months,'' TOI quoted him as saying.
''People from mainland India don't know much better about the northeast. So, my endeavor is to make them aware of the beautiful landscape, tradition, culture, and everything related to the region,'' he added.
Das also asserted that the introduction of a chapter on the northeast in the NCERT will apprise students with the region, which will eventually help in its growth and development in the future.
