Assamese New Year’s day observed in Udalguri

UDALGURI: The Udalguri Sahitya Sabha observed the Assamese New Year’s day as’ Nijor Din’. The programme began with the hoisting of flag by Binapani Devi, the president of Udalguri Sahitya Sabha, followed by smriti tarpan by Pramod Baishya. An interaction with writers was also held during the session. Manik Chandra Sarma, the former president of Udalguri district Sahitya Sabha, Gajendra Nath Gayan, the former president of Udalguri Sahitya Sabha, and Karuna Barman were felicitated by Udalguri Sahitya Sabha. The meeting was presided over by Binapani Devi. Manik Chandra Sarma appealed to all the people to protect the unique cultural identity of ethnic communities.
