Assamese Organization Celebrates Durga Puja In Delhi

MANGALDAI: Samannay- a socio-cultural organization for the welfare of all ethnic people of Assam at MCD complex near PVR, Prashant Vihar, Rohini, Delhi, celebrated its fifth year of Durga Puja.

From the day of its foundation, this socio-cultural organization has been wholeheartedly working to practise Assamese culture and traditions, keeping the next generation in touch with Assam and Axomiya Bhaxa. With this objective, Samannay organizes various competitions among children from the day of Saptami to Navami.

Like the previous years, this year also Samannay organized various competition for children like drawing competition, Assamese poem recitation, extempore speech (in Assamese) and quiz on Assam history, tradition ,culture, politics, mythology science, sports as well as current affairs.

Year 2019 is quite significant as Bhupen da has been awarded the Bharat Ratna. To mark this proud moment, the child members of Samannay presented a group performance based on the theme ‘Sudhakontho’, directed and choreographed by Angel Barua, who is a classical dance expert. Cultural activities to showcase Assamese culture were also organized. Singers Dr. Sangita Kakoti and Rasananda Gogoi were the main attraction of the cultural night organized on October 6.

Earlier on October 5, renowned singer of Assam, Pompy Purabi of famous album Diplip fame, mesmerized the audience. The cultural evening on October 7 witnessed performances by few renowned invited and local artists, including a one-act play by the members of Samannay.
