Guwahati: Dwipannita Kalita, along with 9 other female officers of the Indian Army, have been featured in the cover of Femina India Magazine’s Independence Day Special 

The special edition, titled “In the Line of Duty,” celebrates India’s 78th year of independence gracing ten women officers of the Indian Army on their cover and honouring their grit, resilience, leadership and service to the country. This cover will serve as a source of inspiration for all women of Assam and India.

Assam’s Health and Family Welfare Minister, Ashok Singhal, also publicly expressed his pride on Kalita’s achievement on X, “Incredibly proud to see Major Dwipannita Kalita, a daughter of Dhekiajuli and the first female paratrooper from Assam, featured on the cover of Femina India, alongside Colonel Sofia Qureshi and 8 other valiant Veeranganas of the Indian Army.”

Major Kalita was born in Dhekiajuli, a small town in the Sonitpur district of Assam and has been serving in the Indian Army’s elite Parachute Medical Regiment of the Army Medical Corps. Before joining the army, she completed her MBBS in the Philippines and also gained clinical experience in the emergency and obstetrics-gynecology department at a hospital in Delhi.
