GUWAHATI: Rezaul Hamid, a renowned psychiatrist from Barpeta, Assam, represented India at the World Neuroscience & Psychiatry Conference 2025 (WNPC25) held in Bangkok, Thailand, on March 8-9.
At this prestigious event, Hamid delivered a keynote presentation titled “Migraine and Epilepsy: Do They Share Common Neurobiology?” He explored the neurobiological links between these disorders and their impact on mental health. His research provides valuable insights into shared neurological pathways, potentially leading to better treatment strategies.
Hamid, founder of Mindcare Neuro Psychiatry Research Centre in Mandia, Barpeta, is a leading figure in Indian psychiatry. He is the President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Barpeta, and previously served as co-chairperson of the College Mental Health Specialty Section of the Indian Psychiatric Society.
Dr. Hamid expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying, “This is a great platform to share our research and collaborate with global experts to advance neuroscience and mental health care.” Recognizing his contributions, WNPC25 organizers honored him with a full registration waiver and sponsored accommodation, acknowledging his impact in the psychiatric community.
Hamid attended WNPC25 after playing a key role at the ANCIPS 2025 conference in Hyderabad earlier this year. At ANCIPS, he led two scientific sessions, presented research on the "Neurobiology of Emotion" and the "Mental Health of Psychiatrists," and conducted a 3.5-hour workshop on Neurostimulation in Psychiatric Practice. He collaborated with G. Prasad Rao, Gautam Saha, and Sai Krishna Tikka to provide advanced insights into neurostimulation and neuromodulation for clinical use.
Hamid’s impact goes beyond conferences. A leader in psychiatric care, he is advancing digital mental health solutions and Virtual Reality Therapy through his growing Mindcare Institute of Mental Health & Allied Sciences. He is also leading the development of a 100-bed super-specialty mental health hospital in Barpeta, Assam, further strengthening India’s role in global psychiatry.
Hamid’s Mindcare Neuro Psychiatry Research Centre in Mandia, Barpeta, features a state-of-the-art de-addiction center with advanced therapies like rTMS, tDCS, VR Therapy, and Biofeedback Therapy. These advanced therapies highlight his dedication to improving mental health care and shaping the future of psychiatry in India.
