ATTSA decries illegal encroachment of Doomdooma school entrance road

DOOMDOOMA: The Assam Tea-Tribes Students Association (ATTSA), Doomdooma branch has vehemently protested the blocking of the entrance road of Hahchora LP School by a section of illegal encroaches. The encroachers have even made the road unhygienic by allegedly throwing waste materials over it, thus causing health hazard for the school children.

The school is a traditional one in more than one sense. First, as the name suggests it is situated in a traditional place, 'Hahchora' where the Muttock kingdom once set up a pond for ducks to swim. The place assumes its name 'Hahchora' from this pond. Another significance of this school is that famous novelist and former president of Axam Xahitya Xabha, Jogesh Das studied in this school during his childhood as his father served as a head clerk of Doomdooma Tea Company.

Recently a section of outsiders illegally encroached upon the land of the school and forcefully constructed their dwelling houses in such a way that the road leading to the entrance of the school has become narrow. Moreover, they have allegedly made the road unhygienic by throwing waste materials over the stretch of road up to its entrance. Finding no other alternative, the school children were forced to use the NH-37 as an alternative road, which is quite risky for children of their age to cross due to speeding vehicles.

The ATTSA, Doomdooma Branch wrote to Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia for action. But so far no prompt action has been initiated by the administration, alleged local people.
