BISWANATH CHARIALI: An awareness camp and a field demonstration of silage making was organized on Tuesday at Koyaljuli, around 40 kilometres away from Biswanath Chariali under the aegis of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary and the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath, with the active support of the ICAR-National Research Centre on Pig at Rani, Guwahati. Under the Backward Tribes Development Fund, ninety small pig farmers were distributed with essential items related to piggery such as grains, boots, umbrellas, water lifting pumps, minerals, etc.
Biswanath Deputy Commissioner Munindra Nath Ngatey inaugurated the programme. Eminent scientists from the research centre Dr K Barman, Dr Pranav Jyoti Das, Biswanath Sub-Divisional Veterinary Officer Dr Diganta Sharma, Veterinary Officer Dr Konkan Baruah, Veterinary Officer of Regional Artificial Cow Breeding Centre Dr Partha Pratim Borah along with NABARD Official Pritam Kumar Nath, leading bank officer Nityananda Vashishtha and members of the NGO 'Cadet' (CADAT) were present on the occasion. Technical assistance was also provided by the scientists on the making of silage from leftover vegetables in the awareness camp.
