KOKRAJHAR: On the occasion of International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDR), 2022, an awareness drive on flood and lightning safety through street play was conducted at Sidli and Bengtol Revenue Circles by the District Disaster Management Authority, Chirang, in collaboration with Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA). Ajit Kumar Sarmah, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Chirang formally inaugurated both the programme at Sidli Development Block and Bengtol Circle Office in presence of Amit Ranjan Barman, Circle Officer of Sidli Circle, Pranjal Sarmah Baruah, Circle Officer of Bengtol Circle, Kumud Narzary, Block Development Officer of Sidli Block and other dignitaries. Gaon Burahs, lot mandals, school students, teachers, VCDC chairmen and members, members from Self Help Groups, etc were also present in the programme.
The objective of the campaign is to create mass awareness amongst the common people about do's and don'ts on preparedness for flood and lightning safety through street plays. This mass awareness drive will continue in both the circles of the district for a period of four weeks.
