Awareness meeting on children’s rights organized at Doomdooma

DOOMDOOMA: On the occasion of International Children’s Day, an awareness meeting was organized under the auspices of Assam Branch Indian Tea Association (ABITA)- United Nations International Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF) at A P J Primary School, Hilika TE on Wednesday.

The programme began with a speech by Child Survival Co-Ordinator Bitul Phukan who in his speech explained the significance of the day. On the other hand, Pranchi Chaliha, the Centre Director of Prabhat- an NGO of Hindustan Unilever Ltd, and councillor Jonmoni Garai dwelt on the rights of the children. The members of Kishori Club of Hilika TE made the occasion lively with their performances of items on folk culture. The programme was attended by Assistant Manager Kamal Teli, Welfare Officer Sivashish Dey, students and teachers of the school as well as the Anganwadi workers of the locality.
