DHUBRI: A one-day district-level sensitization in 75 bordering districts of the country for combating child trafficking was held in the Dhubri Deputy Commissioner's conference hall recently. This programme was organized by the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) and Dhubri district administration to commemorate the World Day Against Human Trafficking.

While addressing the participants, president of SCPCR, Rupa Hazarika spoke at a length on the various issues relating to child protection, including child marriage, child labour, child trafficking and POCSO Act. She stressed implementation of all acts with strong hands so that children could grow in a healthy and protected environment. The meeting was attended and addressed by ADC Darshana Chetia, DSP Bidyut Bikas Bora, president of Dhubri District Child Protection Committee, Binoy Bhattacharjee and others, who in their speech also mentioned many child related issues and problems, including engaging child as labourers in 148 brick fields by the employers.
