HOJAI: An awareness meeting on National Water Mission was organized under the banner of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) of Karbi Anglong under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Government of India.

Awareness on the topic ‘Catch the rain, Where it falls & When it falls’, was organized on Friday in the premises of Adarsh Rashtra Bhasha High School of Lamshakhang area in the West Karbi Anglong district. Dr Shivjee Chauhan Assistant professor of Hindi department of Udali College, delivered speech on water conservation and rainfall harvesting. Jiten Harijan Assistant Professor of History department of Kapili College, spoke on aims of the National Water Mission plan and theme ‘Catch the rain, Where it falls & When it falls’. Chhotelal Chauhan, Assistant Professor and Head of the Hindi Department of Kapili College, addressed the gathering on theme ‘Problem of rain water and its judicious use’.

Ashok Kumar Singh, Assistant Teacher of Science, delivered speech on rainfall deficiency and disaster risk reduction in the context of Northeast India. An essay-writing competition was also organized on theme ‘Water scarcity and its management’.The participants were awarded with gift items.

In the meeting, Ramesh Chand Chauhan, headmaster, Rajen Kumar Singh, Rajesh Kumar Chauhan and Dhanraj Harijan, staff of Adarsh Rashtrabhasa Hindi High School were also present.
