Awareness on government flagship programmes held in Dibrugarh by Assam Branch Indian Tea Association

Dibrugarh: Assam Branch Indian Tea Association (ABITA) Zone 1 in support with UNICEF, Assam organized an awareness campaign on various government flagship programmes and schemes at Basmatia Tea estate on Friday.

The objective of the programme is to spread awareness on the benefit of various government flagship programmes and schemes related to health, nutrition & education being implemented. The programme was inaugurated by senior manager of Basmatia Tea Estate, Simanta Das who welcomed all the participants. Project Coordinator, Nutrition, ABITA Gautam Rajkonwar, detailed seven government flagship programmes and schemes like Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), Wage Compensation Scheme, National Iron Plus Initiative (NIPI), Junior Weekly Iron Folic Supplementation (S-WIFS), Weekly Iron Folic Supplementation (WIFS), Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), Nikshay Poshon Yojana (NPY) to the participants.

Around 45 tea garden stakeholders -. Mothers Club Members, ANM, ASHAs, anganwadi workers, Adolescent Girls Group Members, Line Chowkidars and representative from Tea Garden Labour Union participated in the programme.

An interactive session was held in course of the discussion held where various information were shared in detailed. The participants of the programme vowed to spread all information regarding government flagship programmes and schemes to all residing in the gardens. This programme was also organized at Talap, Nahortoli, Halmari, Namsang, Lankashi, Rajmai, Tippuk, Dirok, Dirial, Kharjan, Rajah Ali, Borhat and Samdang Tea Estate on June 7.

It is worth mentioning that similar awareness programme on the subject was organized on May 30 at Thanai, Phillobari, Hingrijan, Raidang, Teliojan, Sealkotee, Pengaree, Bahadur, Jutlibari and Joipur Tea Estates. Till date more than 1200 stakeholders including Mothers Club Members, Adolescent Peer Leaders, Line Chowkidars, Anganwadi Workers, ASHAs reached out and updated their knowledge and practices through these programmes.

Secretary of ABITA Zone 1, Madhurjya Borooah while speaking to The Sentinel said that this awareness programme immensely helped the community as well as other people in availing the benefits of the government programmes being implemented.
