NAGAON: A one-day awareness programme on disaster management was organized at the office of the District Industries and Commerce Centre (DI&CC) located at Srimanta Sankardev Nagar in Hojai on Saturday.
The event was organized jointly by DI&CC and Hojai Unnayan Mancha (HUM), in association with District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Hojai in presence of health departments, employment exchange, labour department, and participants from industry representatives.
The main topic of the awareness programme was everyday disasters, disaster recovery planning in a public gathering, types of disasters, etc.
The programme was inaugurated by Himporna Kalita, DPO, DDMA, Hojai, along with Ringham Kemprai, Station Officer, F&ESS, Hojai Fire Brigade, who explained about the types of disaster like fire, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, pandemics, volcano eruptions, wildfires, floods, mass shootings, acts of terror, nuclear explosions, chemical emergencies, and day-to-day disaster recovery, planning in public gathering and types of disaster, etc. and demonstrated about fire precaution with gas cylinder and electronic short circuit.
