KOKRAJHAR: 100 days 100 district campaign 'Aashwasan' to break the chain of the spread of COVID and TB infection was launched by Dr. J Ahmed, Joint Director Health Services, Kokrajhar in the Joint Director Health Services office on Tuesday. Piramal Swasthya Management and Research Institute and Anamaya will conduct an awareness campaign regarding COVID vaccination and testing for TB through mobile vehicles in 4 blocks of Kokrajhar district. People will also be encouraged to adopt COVID appropriate behaviours.

Along with this, sputum collection and testing will be done based on symptoms through an active case finding campaign of potential TB patients at the village level and TB treatment will be provided free of cost by the government upon confirmation of the disease. This will help in early detection and stop the spread of TB. Under this campaign, people will not need to go to the government health centres for testing. The sputum of presumptive cases will be collected from home and transported to the nearest diagnostic centres for testing.

Keeping in view the importance of community participation, panchayat members, community influencers, tribal leaders, and traditional healers will also be involved during the campaign to make villages free from TB and educate people about TB disease and its prevention.

The campaign, supported by USAID, will be implemented by Piramal Swasthya Management and Research Institute and Anamaya with the help of the respective district administration. In the flag off programme, Kansai Brahma, District Secretary, Bharatiya Yuva Morcha, Dr. Kaushik Das, District TB Officer, Kokrajhar, staff of NTEP Kokrajhar, and officials of Piramal Swasthya and Anamaya were present.
