KOKRAJHAR: A two-day Axomi Xarodiya Mela organized by ASRLM, Kokrajhar got underway from Thursday at Irakdao Community Hall, Titaguri near Kokrajhar.

The mela has been organized to promote and explore the ASRLM Self-Help Group handmade/handicraft products under ASRLM Kokrajhar District Mission Management Unit under the Panchayat and Rural Development Department.

There are 32 stalls from five ASRLM Kokrajhar district blocks - Dotma, Kokrajhar, Gossaigaon, Hatidhura and Kachugaon blocks - providing colourful artefacts, handloom and handicraft products and ethnic food. The mela was inaugurated by MLA of Kokrajhar East, Lawrence Islary.

In an open session, the welcome address was given by Bichitra Birjya Narzary, DPM and inspiration speeches for SHG members were delivered by MLA, Lawrence Islary, DDM NABARD, Kokrajhar, LDM UCO Bank, CHD Agriculture, BDO, Kokrajhar block and other delegates.

Varnali Deka, Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, inaugurated the quiz and other cultural competitions among SHG members and visited the stalls with the delegates. She gave positive feedback along with assurance of support for SHG members from the district administration and other departments.

TEZPUR: The three-day long Axomi Xarodiya Mela got under way at the Tezpur Baan Theatre premises on Wednesday. The programme was organized by Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission, Sonitpur. The Mela was inaugurated by Deba Kumar Mishra, Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur, in the presence of Karabi Saikia Karan, CEO, Zilla Parishad, Neena Baruah, DIPRO Sonitpur, Mahbubul Alom, DPM, DMMU, (ASRLM) Sonitpur and other District and Block officials of ASRLM. Total 30 stalls have been set up in the mela where SHG members brought their items and produce like weaving products, crafting items, packed food items, incense stick, sanitary items, cleaning items, food and others. This is a platform where rural SHG women can showcase and sell their products.

BONGAIGAON: In line with the upcoming Xarodiya Durgotsav, a two-day Axomi Xarodiya Mela has been organized at Kajalgaon in Chirang district from Thursday under the initiative of the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission, Chirang at the Yoga Centre in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office at Kajalgaon, the headquarter of the Chirang district.

Chirang Deputy Commissioner P Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy inaugurated the Axomi Xarodiya Mela on Thursday afternoon, in the presence of officials of District Rural Development Agency and media persons.

During the programme, Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission will organize cultural programmes, traditional sports, painting competitions among the members of Self-Help Groups.

Inaugurating the Axomi Xarodiya Mela, Chirang Deputy Commissioner P Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy lauded the self-help groups of Chirang district for participating in the fair and hoped that they would become self-reliant by having such platforms to showcase and sell their products.

Meanwhile, Chandana Sarma Das, District Programme Officer, Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission, while participating in the Axomi Shardiya Mela, informed that a total of 30 SHGs from Sidli-Chirang and Boro Bazar Block development areas of the district are participating in the fair. She expressed hope that through this Shardiya Mela SHGs would get a positive response through the sale of their products. The Axomi Shardiya Mela, 2022 will be held till September 30 in the Chirang district.
