Baby cradle centre inaugurated by District Child Protection Unit, Sonitpur

TEZPUR: A baby cradle centre was set up by the District Child Protection Unit, Sonitpur in association with the district administration, Sonitpur at Ganesh Mandir, Tezpur for infants and babies who are sometimes abandoned by their parents/ guardians in unhygienic spots such as garbage dumps, posing great threat to their lives.

The centre was inaugurated on Friday by Liza Talukdar, ADC(SW), Sonitpur in presence of Rubi Kalita, DCPO, Sonitpur, DCPU officials, CWC members, Mandir Committee members and the public.

The social welfare department is planning to set up more such cradles in the coming days at various places such as TMCH, Kanaklata Civil Hospital, Paruwa Mother and Child Hospital, Dhekiajuli CHC and Rangapara CHC in Sonitpur district.
