GUWAHATI: Bajali will become the 34th district of Assam on February 10. This development will fulfill the long-pending demand of the local people.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is slated to inaugurate the district during his Bajali visit.

The Personnel Department has already appointed Bhabani Prasad Sarma as the DC (Deputy Commissioner) of Bajali district.

Madan Rauta Nagar in Pathsala will be the headquarters of Bajali district, which will comprise the entire existing Bajali Civil Subdivision that is presently under Barpeta district.

Mentionably, the GAD (General Administration Department) had recently notified Bajali as an administrative district after the State Cabinet and the Central government's 'Delimitation Commission' gave their approvals.

The GAD has also sanctioned 10 gazetted posts, including that of the DC, for Bajali district. The other nine sanctioned gazetted posts include those of a District Development Commissioner (DDC), three Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADCs), an Assistant Commissioner (AC), a Finance and Account Officer (FAO), a Revenue Shirastadar and an Administrative Officer. Altogether 73 other ministerial posts have been also sanctioned for Bajali District.
