TINSUKIA: Balika Vidya Mandir, a leading Bengali and English medium school of Digboi, held its annual programme on Thursday. The day-long events witnessed felicitation to students, recitation of poems and cultural programmes by students, teachers and former faculty members.
The programme began with a devotional song by teacher Saswati Bhattacharjee followed by a welcome address by headmistress Jharna Dasgupta who also presented the annual report of the school. In his address as chief guest, Pallab Sarma, president of APCU Tinsukia District Committee and social worker, appreciated school's effort to create an academic niche in Digboi township. He also felicitated Bichita Bose, Neha Debnath and Radhika Dutta who excelled in the last HSLC examination.
In the programme moderated by teacher Paramita Sambhi, students from Nursery to Class X presented rhymes, Bhupendra Sangeet, Rabindra Nritya, Karbi Nritya, Nepali Nritya and chorus. A physically challenged student, Bidisha Mahanta recited a poem and also sang a song. A well-wisher of the school, Nita Gogoi announced to extend Rs 20,000 annually to meritorious students for five years.
