GUWAHATI: A new scandal has rocked AMTRON as a grand total of Rs.2.50 crores has been hacked from its bank account via online hacking.

Meanhwile, the accounts officer of AMTRON has been detained by Assam Police's Crime Investigation Department for questioning.

In connection to the case, the Assam Police's CID department have detained the accounts officer of the company identified as Rahul Huzuri for questioning.

It is to be mentioned here that the bank account for AMTRON at the bank of Maharashtra, Panbazar branch was hacked on November 8 and the wholesome amount tuning to 2.57 crore was transferred.

On the other hand, sources stated that a mail has earlier been sent to bank authorities from the mail id of Rahul Huzuri on November 8, however, Huzuri claimed that his mail was hacked. 

Earlier, a history has been made as in a first of its kind agreement, the Assam Electronics Development Corporation Limited or AMTRON has signed a landmark tripartite Memorandum of Understanding or MOU with an Israeli tech company Corsight AI.

Under the provisions of this deal, a robust face recognition technology department and services portfolio along with a facial recognition center of excellence will be established at the premises of Tech City in Guwahati. AMTRON stated that it will also partner with a Dutch company I-sec in this venture.

AMTRON's primary objective is to provide state-of-the-art facial recognition services, capacity development, research, and skilling services to the Central Government, State Governments and allied Government organizations, and Public Sector Undertakings (PSU's) within India.

This hi-tech system offers solutions for the most challenging conditions, the likes of which include recognizing faces in extreme angles, moving crowds, low-quality images, partially covered faces, and even in nearly complete darkness along with personal privacy protection.

This technology will enable the government to protect the public from internal and external threats thereby improving security and safety. It has a reputation across the western world as a leader for not only speed and accuracy but also for privacy and ethical standards.

The CEO of Corsight AI, Rob Watts, has said that their first task would be to build an Innovation Center at AMTRON's offices. Amita Singh, the MD of I-sec says that they aim to establish a strategic and comprehensive development of Human Capital Intelligence, Training and Innovation center across sectors.
