BONGAIGAON: In tune with other parts of the country, the United Forum of Bank Union observed a two-day long Bank Protest Day from Thursday against privatization of nationalized banks.

Indrajit Medhi , Bongaigaon Regional Secretary of State Bank of India Officers' Union, said that the Narendra Modi-led Central Government was planning to sell all national properties, including nationalized banks to the corporate houses.

"This wrong policy will create economic instability in the country and common people will suffer for it. We will never let this happen and will continue our democratic agitation," he said. Several leaders, including Sanjib Dev, central member of BEFY, Dhruba Mitra, secretary of All India Bank Employees' Association were present in this demonstration staged at Bongaigaon.
