
BARPETA: Barpeta's industrial growth received a significant boost as 75 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), totaling an investment of Rs. 202.22 crore, were signed at the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit on Wednesday.
The event, held at the District Commissioner’s Office in Barpeta, was chaired by District Commissioner Rohan Kumar Jha and attended by entrepreneurs, government officials, and key stakeholders. The ceremony commenced with a live-streamed speech by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, viewed by attendees in the presence of the District Commissioner.
In his opening speech, DC Jha spoke about Advantage Assam 2.0, a government initiative to support industries and grow the state's economy. He said it could help Barpeta by bringing in investments and creating jobs.
Entrepreneurs at the event shared their business plans and asked the government for better roads, facilities, and long-term support. Pranjan Rajmedhi, General Manager of District Industries and Commerce Centre (DICC), talked about how the government is helping businesses through Advantage Assam 2.0.
He talked about various schemes that provide financial aid, subsidies, and infrastructure development, assuring entrepreneurs of continued government support to help them grow.
To further boost industrial activity, the DC announced plans to establish a 40-bigha industrial park under AIDC Ltd. at Bahari and allocate 20 bighas of land at Sorbhog for prospective investors. He also assured that additional land allotments would be made available to support industrial projects in the district.
The event attracted investments in healthcare, food processing, and hospitality, especially in hotels and resorts. These investments will help grow Barpeta’s economy and create more jobs.
