Barpeta Sironmoni Award was conferred to xatriya khol artiste Jagannath Bayan

BARPETA: The Barpeta Sironmoni Award was conferred on Friday to xatriya khol artiste, Borbayan of Barpeta Xatra and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Jagannath Bayan for the year 2019, and educationist and former Principal of MC College, Barpeta, Arjun Ch Das for the year 2020 at the premises of Barpeta District Library.

Burha Xatriya (Xatradhikar) of Barpeta Xatra, Basistha Sarma graced the occasion as the chief guest and Babul Sahariya, District Development Commissioner, Barpeta, was the distinguished guest. The meeting was presided over by Uddhav Ch Das, working president of Barpeta Siromoni Award giving committee. The award comprises a citation, a memento, clothes and cash Rs 25,000. Earlier, the meeting started with the Borgeet of Xatriya artiste Gunindra Nath Ojah. In this programme, the rank holders of the HSLC exam, 2020 were also felicitated with a citation, a pen, gamosa and cash Rs 5,000.
