BCPL made maiden profit during last fiscal

Dibrugarh: Managing Director of BCPL AK Singh announced that the organization was able to make profit for the first time in the last financial year in a press conference held at the premises of Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) on October 19.

He stated that the organization netted an amount of Rs 70 crore in the last FY. In the current year, the organization had manufactured 1,68,689 metric tonnes of polymer, out of which, 1,53,757 metric tonnes had already been sold, he added. Singh also informed that the sale of its polymer in the north-eastern region had risen than earlier. At the same time, he said that the Centre had approved an amount of Rs 386 crore for Butane-1 and HPG second stage projects. This amount would be utilized for the completion of the first level of the HPG second stage project. He further said that 52000 TPAN project would also be installed at a cost of Rs 125.99 crore.

Responding to a question on the establishment of the Plastic Park, something the Prime Minister in 2015 had promised to set up using the raw material of BCPL and accordingly provide employment to 1 lakh unemployed people, Singh said that it would have to be a joint venture between the Central and the State governments.
