Be punctual or face suspension: BTC Executive Member Ranjit Basumatary to officials

KOKRAJHAR: BTC Executive Member of Forest, Land and Revenue Department Ranjit Basumatary on Wednesday cautioned the officials of his departments to be punctual or to face suspension from Wednesday onwards. He paid a sudden visit to a Circle Office and supervised the functions of the officials and checked the public delivery system in regard to land related works.

Talking to a group of media persons on Wednesday, Basumatary said he had started surprise visit from a circle office and will continue the visit in the departments alloted to him. Without naming the official, he said he found negligence of duty of a Lat Mandal in the Circle Office while discharging land certificates and gave him a week’s time to rectify his misdeeds and dispatch all pending works failing of which suspension letter will reach his table. He also said he had asked the Circle Officer to keep a close eyes on proper discharge of duty with responsibility.

Basumatary said there would be no compromise on service to people and accountability in his alloted departments as he wanted to double the works for the people. He also said other departments should also make the official aware on their duty and responsibility for public service.

Land and Revenue department of BTC had reformed all land-related works and all land records are transformed to digital mode but despite this fact the circle offices take very long time even for issuing income certificates for students. Most of the visitors in Circle Offices have different complaints of apathy and insincerity due to the reasons best known to them. For issuing income certificate to other land documents they take much longer time and on many occasions the officials have readymade reply of “server down” for any certificate. These are in need of rectifications.
