Beautification of Tezpur through wall painting by Edupur Society continues

Tezpur: The inaugural ceremony of the fourth beautification programme of Tezpur through wall painting, organized by the NGO, Edupur Society at Tezpur Kanaklata Civil Hospital was held on Monday.

The programme was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur, Narsing Pawar in the presence of ADC of Sonitpur, KK Sarma, Joint Director Health Services Dr. Krishna Kemprai, Dr Bijay Pal Das, president and secretary of Edupur Society, LC Bhuyan and Amit Raj Konwar, among others.

The fourth wall painting has been done by artist Purna Tanti and Suman Paul. While inaugurating the Kanaklata Art Gallery, DC Narsing Pawar appreciated the continuous effort of Edupur Society. He said Assam was full of natural resources. “We should utilize them properly through tourism. The mission of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan should first start from home. If each and every person cleans his own area, then Tezpur city will become beautiful automatically,” he said. He urged Edupur Society to continue this mission. “We all will join hands to make our Tezpur city clean,” he said. Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by LC Bhuyan who said that the ‘Beautification of Tezpur’ concept was first initiated by Amit Raj Konwar, founder secretary of Edupur Society, in 2013. “From then onwards we have taken the responsibility to beautify our city through various programmes, along with the district administration, Tezpur Municipal Board, Indian Army, Indian Air Force, SSB and Ex-servicemen,” said Bhuyan.
