Bharat bandh evokes mixed response in Dhekiajuli

DHEKIAJULI: The Bharat bandh called by 31 farmer organizations, which include Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), All India Farmers' Union (AIFU), All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC), All India Kisan Mahasangh (AIKM) and 18 opposition parties, to protest against the farm bills passed by the Parliament, evoked partial response in Dhekiajuli subdivision on Friday.

All business establishment, educational institutions, banks, government offices and insurance offices remained open during the bandh period in Dhekiajuli and its adjoining areas but commercial vehicles remained off the NH-15, Dhekiajuli. However, smaller vehicles like auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws and private vehicles were running smoothly. A protest procession was brought out through the NH-15, Dhekiajuli by the CPI (M) cadres and supporters on Friday. The protesters shouted anti-government slogans during their procession. But there was no untoward incident during the bandh period.
