‘Bharat Jago Daur’ organized in Dhubri to Commemorate Vivekananda’s Speech

DHUBRI: ‘Bharat Jago Daur’, Along with rest of the country (Run to Awake India) was organized here by the Dhubri district unit of Krira Bharati on Wednesday to commemorate Swami Vivekananda’s speech in Chicago on September 11, 1893.

‘Bharat Jago Daur’ was flagged off from the Mahabeer Chilarai Park on the river bank at 6.30 am and culminated at Vivekananda’s life-size statue at Tetultola via Guru Teg Bahadur Road and Netaji More (Panchmore) of the town.

Earleir, academician Putul Chakraborty lit the lamp at the bust of Vivekananda in Netai Dhubani Park and spoke at a length on the life and philosophy of the country’s greatest monk, Vivekananda. He said that on this day in 1893, Vivekananda addressed the World Religious Parliament and upheld the philosophy of Hinduism and made the world know about yoga.

“This was the first time that any representative of Hindu religion from India delivered a lecture on the rich culture, customs and religious philosophy of Hinduism in the world forum. His lecture mesmerized the hall-packed audience of religious leaders across the world,” Chakraborty added.

An ardent social worker, Suchibrata Sinha Choudhury lit the lamp at Tetultola followed by a public meeting there. Speaking in the meeting, secretary of Dhubri Hari Sova, Pradip Kumar Deb, Suchibrata Sinha Choudhury, and socio-cultural activist and reputed artist Shyamal Ghose also spoke on the life of Vivekananda and appealed to the youths to follow the ideals and philosophy of the greatest monk the country has ever produced.
