GAURISAGAR: The Bharat Jodo Yatra, a unique countrywide movement of the Indian National Congress (INC), reached Charing Deoraja on the outskirts of Gaurisagar in the Sivasagar district on Tuesday.
Addressing a public rally held at the Lachit ME School premises, Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia said that this programme was initiated to root out BJP for exploiting the people of the country.
The meeting was inaugurated by noted educationist Tuwaram Khanikar while Angkita Dutta, president, Assam Youth Congress Committee, anchored the programme. Besides, MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed, Bikash Upadhya, MLA of Chattishgarh and secretary, AICC, former minister Etuwa Munda also spoke in the meeting.
Before the meeting, APCC chairman Bhupen Borah and other office bearers paid homage at the samadhi of former minister and APCC chairman Anjan Dutta at Gaurisagar Rajiv Bhavan premise.
