Bhattadev University to confer Honorary Doctorate to Krishna Roy for Artistic Contributions

Pathsala: Bhattadev University, Bajali is going to confer prestigious Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) on Asom Sourav Awardee, Krishna Roy during its First Convocation scheduled to be held on March 29.  To acknowledge his exceptional contributions to Assam through his works in the field of art and culture, the university is going to honour him in the presence of Governor of Assam and Chancellor of Bhattadev University Lakshman Prasad Acharya.

Krishna Roy is a distinguished figure in the cultural and theatrical landscape of Assam and recipient of the Rajat Kamal Award in Regional Language (Assamese Category) in the year 2004 and Asom Saurav Award by Government of Assam in 2022. Krishna Roy’s contributions to Assamese theatre and film have left an indelible mark on the cultural heritage of Assam. His visionary leadership in establishing Awahan Theatre, coupled with his role as a film producer, lighting artist, and active socio-cultural participant, has helped shape the future of mobile theatre and the arts in the region, stated a press release.
