Bhupendra Sangeet Competition Held in Numaligarh

Numaligarh: The 93rd birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika was observed by Uddipon, an NGO of Numaligarh-Morangi area with the help of Morangi Regional Committee of SMSS (Satra Mukti Sangram Samittee) on Sunday.

The program was held at Pandit Hemchandra Goswami Vidyapeeth High School at Doigrung. It was initiated with the lighting of lamps by Hiteswar Hazarika, former president of All Assam Dhulia Association, followed by floral tributes at the portrait of the maestro. To keep up the ethos of the maestro in the society, many cultural programs and competitions like Late Journalist Amulya Dutta Memorial Bhupendra Sangeet competition, speech competition, and drawing competition were held.

The Bhupendra Sangeet competition in memory of journalist Amulya Dutta was initiated with the lighting of lamps at his portrait by his wife Minu Gogoi Dutta and daughters Rimjhim Dutta and Simirani Dutta. The event was presided over by Golap Chandra Saikia, former Headmaster of Pandit Hemchandra Goswami Vidyapeeth High School. Writer and social worker of the area, Jiten Kr Hazarika graced the occasion as the main speaker.
