GUWAHATI: Assam Cabinet Minister Pijush Hazarika said that the Bhutan Police will soon receive training at the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy, giving added strength to Assam's contribution to regional security matters. Hazarika told the media about this, highlighting the importance of the academy as a premier training institution for police in India.
“It is a matter of great pride for us,” Hazarika stated, noting that the academy has previously conducted training sessions for the newly recruited Manipur Police and is currently training personnel from the Goa Police. With the addition of Bhutan Police, the academy is establishing itself as one of the finest police training institutions in the country, setting high standards for law enforcement personnel.
This announcement coincides with the upcoming visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Assam. Shah is scheduled to begin his tour on March 14 in Jorhat, where he will inaugurate the upgraded Lachit Barphukan Police Academy in Dergaon as part of efforts to enhance Assam’s law enforcement infrastructure. His visit will also include a review of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita implementation with Chief Ministers from northeastern states in Guwahati on March 16.
Additionally, Shah will be making a visit to Mizoram on March 15 and then will return to Assam for the final session of the 57th Annual Conference of the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) in Kokrajhar on March 16. The training of Bhutan Police at the academy highlights Assam's strategic position in enhancing regional security and enhancing relations with neighboring countries.
