Bike ambulance service launched in Baksa

KOKRAJHAR: For the first time in the north-eastern States, bike ambulance service under the aspirational district, Baksa was formally launched by the Executive Member (EM) of BTC Ansumwi Khungur Boro at Dr. Rabi Boro Civil Hospital, Mushalpur on Monday.

Talking to this reporter, the EM of BTC, Ansumwi Khungur Boro said he was happy to launch the first bike ambulance service in his home district. He said many areas of BTC region were backward and people had to travel a long distance to reach the hospital for treatment. There were no ambulance services in remote areas and under such circumstance, the bike ambulance service was essential, he said, adding that the new service would be an initiative to provide service to patients, especially of remote places. He thanked the Northeastern Council (NEC), DoNER and NITI Ayog for extending the bike ambulance service in the district and hoped that it would be extended in the council area.

The bike ambulance service will be implemented by the Northeastern Council (NEC), Ministry of DoNER and NITI Ayog at Sukrungbari HWC, Japadong HWC and Kowali HWC on pilot basis in Baksa district. The programme was also attended by Dr. GN Deb Sarma, Joint Director of Health Services and Member Secretary, District Health Society, Baksa and other senior officers of health sector.

In another programme, EM Ansumwi Khungur Boro inaugurated the piggery farming training in the district on the same day. The programme was organized by the 27th Bn SSB, Howly under the aegis of the animal husbandry department, BTC.
