Bikers snatch ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh in Silchar

SILCHAR: In a typical Bollywood style, bikers snatched bags containing golden ornaments and cash from a trader on Wednesday at a busy Chowrangee Bazar point in Katigorah. Subratra Roy Karmakar, who runs a jewellery shop at Chowrangee Bazar point, was paying obeisance at a temple near his shop. Suddenly two miscreants riding a motor bike appeared and within minutes snatched the bag Karmakar had kept at his side. The bag contained gold ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh and cash amount of Rs 35,000. Police had reportedly launched a search operation to nab the miscreants.

Few months back, a similar incident happened near Katigorah police station when a trader lost a bag containing gold ornaments worth Rs 12 lakhs. No miscreant had been reportedly arrested till now.
