Birth anniversary celebration of Mahavir Lachit Barphukan concludes at Hahim

BOKO: Boko Revenue Circle, Boko Development Block, Boko Police, All Rabha Students' Union (ARSU), AASU, Boko Press Club, Boko Sports Association, Bogai (a sports and cultural group) along with local public jointly celebrated the 400th birth anniversary of Mahavir Lachit Barphukan in various places under the Boko Revenue Circle from November 20 to November 24.

On November 20, Boko Police and ARSU organized an essay-writing competition on Lachit Barphukan, where more than 200 students under class V took part. On November 21, Boko Circle Office, Boko Development Block organized traditional games at Boko Gandhi Maidan. On November 22, Boko Police and other organizations jointly took out a cultural rally at Boko area, where Boro, Rabha, Garo, Gurkha, Koch, Bihu cultural troupes along with local public took part to celebrate the birth anniversary.

On November 23 and November 24, Hahim Police Outpost organized a two-day long day-night badminton competition in the Hahim Police Outpost premises. Total 37 groups from Assam and Meghalaya took part in the competition. Hahim Police Team won the first prize and runners-up was Boko Police Team while the third prize was won by a team from Athiabari area.

Boko Revenue Circle Officer Dibash Bordoloi, Boko PS Officer in-charge Phanindra Nath, Boko Development Block officer Arnav Goswami led all the programme of the birth anniversary celebration. Circle Officer Dibash Bordoloi said that the traditional games had disappeared from the society for various regions. "So we have decided that we will continue the traditional games competitions with children every year in Boko," he said.
