Birth anniversary of Lord Buddha celebrated in Doomdooma

DOOMDOOMA: The birth anniversary of Lord Buddha, who gave the message of peace and harmony to the world, was celebrated in Doomdooma. Bhante Aryasena Bhikkhu hoisted the religious flag on this auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima at the Buddhist Temple located at Rupaisiding, Doomdooma.

After special prayers to Lord Buddha, a colourful cultural procession was taken out. The foundation stone of the temple was laid in 1960 at Vijay Nagar, Rupaisiding under Doomdooma Police Station (PS) and since then, every year on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, morning ferry, lighting of lamp, Buddha worship, cultural procession, religious lectures and offering of Prasad (Oblation) were held. In the evening, various religious programmes were held besides Pradeep Utsav and Buddhist Bhajan Kirtan. The Buddha Purnima was also celebrated with various religious programmes at the premises of the Buddhist temple in Chota Hapjan in Tinsukia district.
