BISWANATH CHARIALI: With the objective of effective implementation of the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) and to increase awareness at the field level, a capacity-building training programme was organised on Friday by the Biswanath District Agriculture Department at the training hall of the State Institute of Panchayat and Rural Development (SIPRD), Biswanath.
The training program, conducted under the chairmanship of District Agriculture Officer Baneswar Bey, held detailed discussions on the role and responsibilities of Agriculture Development Officers, Agriculture Extension Assistants and officials of the ATMA scheme in the successful implementation of the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund.
In the training program, AIF State Official Minarul Islam attended as the resource person and imparted detailed training to the participating officials and employees on the objectives and features of AIF, eligible beneficiaries, eligible projects, financial assistance, interest subvention, credit guarantee, implementation process, role of field-level staff, bank loan appraisal process, mandatory documents and convergence with other schemes.
The training emphasized on correctly informing farmers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), entrepreneurs and other eligible beneficiaries about the benefits of the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund and on enhancing the capacity of field-level officials and employees in implementing eligible projects. It is expected that this training will play a positive role in taking the benefits of the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund to a larger number of eligible beneficiaries in Biswanath district and in strengthening the environment for infrastructure development and investment in the agriculture sector.
The training program was attended by Biswanath and Gohpur Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officers Sonmani Saikia and Saranga Pani Keot respectively, District Development Manager of NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) Sandeep Devnath, Pranjal Buragohain, Manager, State Bank of India, Biswanath along with Agriculture Development Officers and other concerned officials and employees under the District Agriculture Office, Biswanath.
