BJP candidate Bishwajit Phukan gears up for polls in Sarupathar

SARUPATHAR: BJP candidate Bishwajit Phukan received a warm welcome from the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) workers in 94-Sarupathar LAC after getting a party ticket. A bike and car rally was also taken out from Golaghat to Sarupathar on his arrival. Phukan was also felicitated by the party workers and locals on the roadside of Sarupathar town.

The BJP candidate also met former AGP MLA Binod Gowalla of 94-Sarupathar LAC after getting the party ticket. Gowalla ensured that he will help Phukan during the Assembly election.

Meanwhile, according to sources, Gopal Gogoi has decided to contest as an independent candidate and Congress MLA Roselina Tirkey has also been allotted party ticket. The locals are saying that it will be an interesting poll battle for the 94-Sarupathar seat and supporters of Phukan is exhibiting confidence in winning the poll battle.

As per the data available with the Chief Electoral Officer, 94-Sarupathar constituency has a total of 2,53,725 voters which include 1,29,621 male and 1,24,463 female voters.
