KOKRAJHAR: The United Bodo People's Organization (UBPO) on Wednesday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had extended all support for the creation of Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) outside BTC.

Expressing resentment over the alleged 'planted agent' remark of former LokSabha MP Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary on UBPO leaders and Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary, the general secretary of the organization, Anil Basumatary said that the State cabinet had passed its decision for creation of BKWAC by bringing ordinance on October 7 but the WPT&BC minister from Bodoland People's Front (BPF) had blocked the bill several times. This compelled the UBPO to support the BJP for the interest of the new council. He said that after the BJP made its stand clear to form the new autonomous council, over 700 members of the UBPO formally joined the BJP in a special occasion held at Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati on October 9. He also said that the UBPO had been supporting the BJP since 2016 election for the interest of BKWAC.
