SILCHAR: As expected, the BJP formed the Zilla Parishad in Cachar with Kankan Narayan Sikdar as the President and Debojyoti Bawri his deputy. In the 25-seat Cachar Zilla Parishad, BJP had absolute majority with 17 members, the Congress had 7 members, while the remaining seat was won by a Congress-supported independent.
