KALAIGAON: All political parties have intensified their campaigns for the forthcoming Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Although the State Election Commission has not yet announced the election date, major parties including the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), and the Congress have already begun their election activities across the region.
With the BTC elections likely to be held in mid-September, the political atmosphere in BTR is heating up. All parties are making concerted efforts to win over voters, setting the stage for a fierce electoral battle.
The BJP held a party meeting on Saturday at the Sujit Narzary Auditorium in Kalaigaon under the 35 No. Mudwibari Territorial Council Constituency. Minister Pijush Hazarika and BTC executive member Diganta Barua attended the organizational meeting.
Speaking at the event, Hazarika said, “We do not intend to form the government in BTR alone. Our goal is to form the government in alliance with other regional parties of BTR.” He also expressed confidence that the BJP would win around 15 seats in the BTC and emphasized that the party would respect and collaborate with regional parties in governance.
Hazarika’s presence and his interaction with grassroots workers were seen as a strong indication of the BJP’s strategic groundwork in the region. In a statement aimed at party unity and mobilization, he added, “The people of BTR want a BJP-led government in the upcoming BTC polls.”
