SILCHAR: Minister Parimal Suklabaidya handed over cheques under the Assam Microfinance Incentive and Relief Scheme among the beneficiaries of Narsingpur and Palonghat development blocks of Dholai. The BJP-led coalition government was known for fulfilling its election promises, Suklabaidya claimed. Earlier, the Minister handed over cheques to 619 beneficiaries at a function held in the Narsingpur block area.

Addressing a meeting, Minister Suklabaidya said that BJP during its poll campaign promised to provide debt relief to all women in Assam who had taken micro finance loans. This step, taken under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, aimed at helping about 25 lakh women in the State to get out of debt by providing assistance up to Rs 25,000.

Suklabaidya said the project would help about 83,000 women in the Cachar district. The Narsingpur development block has already included the names of about 8,000 beneficiaries. "A comprehensive plan is being formulated to ensure the self-esteem and empowerment of women. Without social equitable participation of women, overall development of the State is not possible. Narendra Modi at the Centre and Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at the State are working to make the women of the State self-reliant. The Self-Reliant Women Self-Reliant Assam project has reached far and wide through the State's self-help groups and various women's development groups," Suklabaidya said.

He further added that multiple drinking water projects were underway in the area through the Jal Jeevan Mission. Distribution of gas in the first instalment of 2.0 Ujwala Yojana is in progress. The amount is being transferred to the account of poor families within ten days of every month through Arunodoi Scheme, Suklabaidya said. He said the work of every alley under Dholai had been completed within the stipulated timeframe. Later, Suklabaidya handed over cheques to 98 beneficiaries of the Palonghat development block.
